On the evening of April 15, the preliminary round of the 2021 Star of Outlook Talent Competition was held in Classrooms 206 and 207 in teaching building 11. Ms. Liu Xin, Ms. Wan Lihua, Ms. Jin Ling and Ms. Feng Yanling served as the judges of the competition.

With the purpose of cultivating interest, enhancing confidence, showing personal characteristics and setting an example, the Star of Outlook English Talent Competition aims to build a stage for English lovers across the country to stimulate English learning, cultivate critical thinking ability and show all-round characteristics, which set a bridge for Chinese and Western cultures to promote cultural communication and enhances international exchanges

The title of the competition was "To____ is to believe". The contestants were divided into non-English major group and English major group, and non-English ones came first.  Some of the contestants answered the questions from the judges confidently and calmly, while the other ones were a little bit nervous with short pauses during their speeches; however, this could not hide their courage and individualities.

In the non-English major group, the fluent English answers from Chen Qiuping and Liao Qiuyue impressed the seated. In addition, Xiao Jing, a junior from accounting major, prepared background music to make her speech colourful and exciting. Among the English major group, Wang Zheng who had lots of experience of speech and other competitions showed his talent and competence. Sun Danling, a contestant from the class 2020 of foreign languages major, expressed the love and trust between relatives with the theme "To love is to believe", and responded to the questions from the judges in an orderly manner.

Finally, the host announced the end of the competition, and the results of which would be announced later.
