To advance care services for rural left-behindchildren of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), the guidance center ofCYLC and the secretariat of Chinese Young Volunteers Association (CYVA) advocatedCYL at all levels and voluntary service organizations to actively participateColorful 4:30, a volunteer service project to care for the ruralleft-behind children. Following selection and approval, FireflyVolunteer Service Team (hereinafter called “Firefly”) of SFL was selected asthe demonstration team.

Established in June 2017, Firefly mainlyaimed at the educational assistance activities for the poor left-behindchildren in Liangzihu District, Ezhou City, Hubei Province. The volunteers madeuse of their language advantages to cultivate students' interest in Englishlearning and help them establish good learning habits. At the same time, theypromoted students’ understanding of the national current affairs and politics,which was conducive to forming their correct outlook on value, life and the world.

With the support of local Party committee, “Firefly”has carried out voluntary teaching activities in three consecutive years sinceits establishment, benefiting more than 500 children. Meanwhile, the serviceteam developed a series of activities about humanistic care and popularizedknowledge of social science, safety and health education. In addition, “Firefly”also carried out interesting educational activities such as calligraphyand painting exhibition, speech contest and artistic performance. Thesevolunteers have improved their mental health and knowledge learning, which havewon praise from all walks of life.

In the implementation of the Colorful 4:30project, Firefly, along with the volunteer service team caring forethnic minorities children, carried out volunteer service activities aboutcultivating love for the country and the Party, traditional culture and mentalhealth of the urban migrant children in the nearby communities of South-CentralUniversity for Nationalities. On the other hand, in the implementation of theColorful Holiday project, Firefly carried out teachingactivities of ten courses, including Chinese, Mathematics, English, Health andHygiene, in nine places of Liangzihu District of Ezhou City, and held regularthemed class meetings, such as “Thanking Parents” and “Let Dreams Fly” .

In the following programs, Firefly shall staytrue to its original aspiration and implement voluntary service work steadily.With continuously enriching and innovating the forms of voluntary service,Firefly will continue to bring knowledge, care and accompany to theleft-behind children for their healthier and happier childhood.
