School of Foreign Languages Promoted the Work of Class Tutors with Students as the Core, and Guidance as the Foundation

In order to ensure the smooth implementation of class tutors’ work after the beginning of the school year, the School of Foreign Languages actively carried out preparatory work and made it clear that class tutors’ work would be student-centered, helping students solve problems they encountered in their studies, life and growth.


Since May, led by teachers chiefly in charge of the School of Foreign Languages, the team mobilized the teaching and research department, completing the selection of class tutors. In June, the “Implementation Plan for the Team Building of Class Tutors in the School of Foreign Languages” was issued; from July to September, the school held the appointment ceremony of class tutors and conducted several training sessions, including the duties of class tutors, the screening and guidance of psychological problems, and the work guidance of tutors of each major.


Before the formal start of classes, all class tutors have had a general grasp of their students’ information and established QQ groups or WeCom groups to communicate with students about their life and study. Since the school year began, all class tutors have organized the first class and the class meeting on the theme of sports and health, and have carried out a series of collective activities in strict accordance with the school's requirements. In addition, the college has set every Tuesday as the day for class tutors to visit dormitories, so as to understand the real living environment of students, and has paid special attention to the living and studying conditions of students with financial difficulties.


The focus of class tutor of each grade is different. Class tutors for freshmen focus on students’ development of study and living habits through organizing various group activities; class tutors for sophomore students will understand the specific conditions of the students and give guidance to each of them, encouraging them to take active part in various contests and activities; class tutors of junior students, considering the junior year has brought dual challenges of heavy academic workload and essential career planning, offer guidance in their professional study, individual development and psychological state; class tutors of senior students, despite great hardship, will have clear work objectives and pay close attention to students’ personal development.


Throughout the implementation of class tutors’ work, plentiful experience and effective methods have been summed up. Working mechanism has been accomplished through work recording, meeting and “training, discussion and exchanging”, etc.


Class tutors should shoulder the responsibilities of teaching, influencing and nurturing students. That is why our school will continue to perfect work mechanism, meet responsibilities and basic requirements to promote teaching ethics and pay attention to students education.
