On the evening of May 27, Duan Chao, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of SCUEC, went to the School of Foreign Languages to contact with the students majoring in Translation and Interpreting, Class 1902. Dai Yingfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, and Xing Xing, Director of the Translation Major, attended the meeting.

First of all, Dai Yingfeng, secretary of the School of Foreign Languages, conveyed information of relevant documents of the university, according to the "Notice on Doing a Good Job in University Leaders Contact and Supervision of Fundamental Party's Construction in 2021", our school will conscientiously do a good job in coordination, cooperate with leaders to carry out contact and supervision of party construction work, and do a good job in contacting students. The purpose of this contact meeting with Translation and Interpreting Class 1902 this time was to comprehensively understand the students' ideas, studies, employment and other issues through in-depth exchanges, and to improve the situation in other aspects, such as the teaching, learning style construction, ideological and political education and other works of the School of Foreign Languages.

Then, according to the school's arrangement, Comrade Duan Chao expressed his feelings as a tutor for the class Translation and Interpreting Class 1902 of the School of Foreign Languages. He first shared his study and work experience with the students, expressed his cordial concern and ardent expectations for them, and narrowed the distance with them. At the same time, Comrade Duan Chao also placed high hopes on the students and put forward his own ideas and expectations.

The first point: being a student in SCUEC for one day means having the affection for SCUEC for a lifetime; having the relationship of a teacher and a student for a day is having a relative for a lifetime. He hoped that the students could understand the true meaning of it, cherish the study time at university, communicate with teachers more, study hard, and strive to win glory for themselves, for their alma mater, and for their hometown.

The second point: everyone has the opportunity to shine, and there is a platform for performance. He encouraged the students to go to the places where the country needs to make meritorious achievements, no matter where they are, as long as they strengthen their faith and make positive contributions, they are valuable persons.

The third point: foreign language is the window for foreign cultural communication and the bridge for cultural exchanges. Students majoring in translation and interpreting should not only use it as a tool, but should have a sense of the overall situation and contribute to cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries and tell Chinese stories well.

Finally, Comrade Duan Chao asked the students to make a few suggestions about the work in a frank and public way that the university needs to improve, and the content is not limited, which can help improve the work of the university's teaching, service, dormitory, canteen and other aspects to play a positive role.
