Recently, Professor Zhang Liyu, Associate Professor Li Ming and Associate Professor Tu Shali of our school  took charge of the translation of The English Version of Series on Three Naxi Epics, which won the first prize of the 11th Outstanding Academic Achievements of Translators Association of Hubei (Category of Translated Works).

The Naxi creation epic The Creation of the World, the heroic epic The War Between Dongzhu and Shuzhu and the love epic The Song of Migration are collectively known as the three epics of Naxi and the "three pearls" of Dongba literature. As early as 2008, they were included in the list of the first group of "State-level Precious Ancient Books" issued by The State Council of China.

The team of translators in our college is committed to promoting the three epics of Naxi Dongba Scripture and their ecological culture to the world. The team went to the historic district of Lijiang city, Yulong Naxi Autonomous County and other places in Yunnan province for many times to carry out field investigations. On the basis of textual research and folklore research, the team modified their manuscript several times, and invited Chinese and foreign experts to proofread it before finally completing the English translation.

In the process of translation, the English version of three Naxi epics got affirmation from scholars who translate classic books into English, including Mr. Wang Hongyin, Mr. Li Zhengshuan, etc.. It also got help from leaders and experts of the Organizing and Publishing Planning Office of Ancient Books of Ethnic Minorities in Yunnan province. In addition, it got the guidance of relevant scholars of Dongba Culture Institute in Lijiang city, hoping to reproduce the original style of mythological epics in terms of content and style.
