||                Dr. Tan Xiao, the National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter,told her story on fighting against COVID-19.

On the evening of October 24th, Tan Xiao, a doctor of Intensive Care Unit from Hubei Minda Hospital, as well as a National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter in fighting against COVID-19 , came to our university and tell the story of helping Wuhan people fight the pandemic. Leaders and teachers attended the meeting including, Dai Yingfeng, secretary of the Party committee of School of Foreign Languages (SFL), Yi Lixin, dean of SFL, Chen Xiaoxi, deputy secretary of the Party committee of SFL, and Chen Jiliang, secretary of the School Youth League Committee and counselor for students of class 2020.

   At the meeting, Dr. Tan shared her story with the students. She said that the guidance of values, the support of her family gave her the courage to go to Wuhan and help the people there. In those days, medical staff on the frontline, busy but organized, always held strong belief. Though under huge pressure, they never gave up and accomplished their mission successfully. Chinese people have shown strong power in this battle, making remarkable achievements and protected the safety of    many people. After that, Dr. Tan personally demonstrated the seven-step hand-washing method, the right way to wear masks and other protective measures.

 

After the story it was the Q&A session. When answering the questions, Dr. Tan said that as a doctor working in the Intensive Care Unit of Jinyin Tan Hospital (a designated hospital for COVID-19 patients in Wuhan), what she had experienced was   extraordinary. To her, Every patient who could successfully transfer to the general ward was the greatest encouragement.

 

At the end of the meeting, Yi Lixin the Dean of SFL , on behalf of all the teachers and students of SFL, expressed heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tan and presented her souvenirs. With tears and applause, this meeting came to an end.
