毕业于华中科技大学计算机科学与技术学院，获计算机系统结构专业博士学位。中国计算机学会会员，中国生物医学工程学会会员。长期从事生物医学信号处理、图像处理以及计算机系统结构的教学与科学研究工作。目前主要从事视觉计算等方面的研究工作，特别是生物特征识别等基于视觉信息加工机制的图像理解和关键技术的研究。

主持和承担了“合成孔径声纳系统研究”（2007AA091101）国家863项目，模拟视觉信息处理机制的视频对象行为识别，“脑-计算机接口的新构思与新技术”国家自然基金等项目，以及多项省部级项目。注重产学研结合，与相关企业合作完成了多项科研项目。经过长期的科学研究活动，其研究成果在国内外重要期刊和会议上发表论文20余篇，如“电子学报”、“Wavelets, Multiresolution and information Processing”等刊物。
