Project 1: Developing new NMR methodologies for analyzing the structure of organic molecules oriented in weak alignment media. We develop new alignment media including graphene oxide-based liquid crystal and protein like helical polymer liquid crystal for various organic solvents to meet the diversity organic molecules. Furthermore, we expand developed alignment media to the application to anisotropic parameters including residual dipolar couplings (RDCs), residual chemical shift anisotropy (RSCA), nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) analysis. We also carry out structural analyses of natural and synthetic small organic molecule and analysis of chiral organic molecules.
Project 2: Our research interests focus on understanding protein-protein interactions (PPIs) of the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) and its relevant biological events. Furthermore, we will screening the natural products or small molecules to fix the interfaces of these proteins using differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF) ,NMR STD, WaterLOGYS, ITC technology, and to exploit their selectivity and ligandability toward small molecule control of intracellular protein levels Those small molecules are potential to be developed into lead compounds for treating disease.
