This major aims to cultivate compound talents with good moral and humanistic qualities and good physical and mental qualities; to have solid basic knowledge of science, medicine and engineering as well as strong foreign language skills; to master the theoretical knowledge of biotechnology, biomedical signal detection and processing, biomedical sensing and medical instrument design, medical imaging and image processing, etc.; to have the necessary medical, electronic technology, computer application and other practical skills; to understand the development trend of new technologies, new processes, new products and new methods in the field of biomedical engineering; to grasp the knowledge of the design method and process of medical instruments and medical devices, having high engineering practice skills of combining engineering technology with medicine and preliminary scientific research ability; to understand the related policies and regulations of product development and production management; able to engage in related scientific researches, product development, professional teaching, quality control and production management in the fields of biomedical foundation, medical instrument, medical image processing, medical software realization, etc.

   Medical Information Engineering is a new cross-subjects and multi-disciplinary comprehensive major based on information science and life science, and it is also the application and integration of biomedical information detection, transmission, processing, analysis, storage, biology and modern medicine in life science. This major aims to cultivate the advanced talents with good moral and humanistic qualities and good physical and mental qualities; to have a wide range of basic knowledge of engineering and general medical knowledge; to master the basic theories, basic knowledge and basic operation skills of electronics, computer science, software and hardware, such as electronic technology, program design, operating system, database, biomedical signal processing, and design principle of medical information system; to understand the development trend of new technologies and new methods of medical information engineering, to know the related policies and regulations of the development of medical information system and standardized management, to master the skills of biomedical information collection, analysis and information processing, and to have the preliminary ability of medical information collection and processing research; to master the basic knowledge of technical and economic management, and to have the basic skills of acquiring the latest information in the field of medical information; to expertly apply the knowledge in medical information research, development, management, clinical application, and other electronic information technology industries.
