The Department of Information Management is founded in 1990. The department owns a qualified faculty of 12 members, of whom 2 are professors, 5 associate professors, 5 lecturers, 5 supervisor of master and 1 leading teacher of the university. The department has formed a teacher team of a high education level, reasonable age structure, good learning edge structure and appropriate knowledge structure.  Management information engineering research institute is established in 2005. Clean Production Center In Wuhan Optical Valley(CPC-OVC) was established as a academic and research institutions in December 2009.

　　Features of information management department are as follows:  First, on the curriculum system, pay attention to the foundation and application, and satisfy the social demand; second,   take talent training mode of theory + case teaching + experience type teaching + practice teaching, to improve the students' ability of integrated use of knowledge in this major, and students are cultivated with high comprehensive quality.

　　In recent years, the faculty of the department has completed more than 20 research projects at national and provincial levels, in which teaching research project is 6. The faculty has published more than 40 research papers, among them 8 are educational research papers. Research results of State Ethnic Affairs Commission Social Science won third prize.
