(Reporter: Leng Yin, Ma Shuai) On the afternoon of April 7, 2017, Prof. Liu Changyi, deputy director of Hubei Provincial Poverty Alleviation Office, gave an academic lecture entitled From Development-oriented Poverty Reduction to Targeted Poverty Alleviation and Poverty Alleviation Battle in Hubei Province in Room 1006 of the 10th floor. The lecture was organized by the School of Economics of South-central University For Nationalities and chaired by Professor Chen Zuhai from the School of Economics. The graduates and undergraduates of the School of Economics have attended the lecture.
With his rich experience in grassroots work, Director Liu put forward his own unique views on the problem existing in Development-oriented Poverty Reduction and Targeted Poverty Alleviation in our province from macroscopic and microcosmic perspectives, using concise PPT slides and humorous language. Besides, heelaborated the main reasons for the existing problem and several phenomena that should be prevented. The director emphasized the following six aspects accurateness, factualism, harmony, strictness, responsibility and innovation and the excellent spirit that needed to be advanced in poverty alleviation. He also pointed that the current situation of poverty eradication battle in our province is pretty good rather than just-so-so with a variety of problems and difficulties, where great pressure but promising prospects existed. By the end of 2016, there were still 2.87 million poverty-stricken people in our province. Helping them get rid of poverty takes the lead in poverty alleviation battle.
