|Prof. Yang Zhenyu from China Academy of Art is Invited to Give Lectures|

On the night of March 16, 2018, Prof. Yang Zhenyu, professor from China Academy of Art, doctoral tutor and Section Chief of Graduate School is invited to give a lecture at the Optical Valley Fine Arts Gallery, South-central University for Nationalities. The lecture, entitled “Modern Art and Modern Life”, was presided by Prof. Wen Bin, vice dean of SFA.
Prof. Yang, with analysis of the exhibition “From Claude Monet to Pierre Soulages: Development of Western Modern Painting” held at Wuhan Art Museum, starts with Van Gogh, Picasso and Monet and then narrates artistic views of Impressionist painters and modernity of art. He analyzes Monet’s “Lotus” in terms of the origin and creation process, and works by Georges Michel, Gustave Courbet, Giorgione and other well-known painters to explain origin of modern art, impressionist painters’ use of color, cause and development of impressionist painters. He also explains the impressionists’ use of light and color with analysis of some representative French impressionist painters and symbolism poets.
