In order to further promote the study and implementation of the spirit of the 20th Party Congress, on 10 March 2023, the thirty-seventh lecture of the Pilot Lecture Hall of the School of Marxism of The South-Central Minzu University was successfully held. The lecture was held in a combination of online and offline. Professor Li Weiwu from the School of Philosophy of Wuhan University was invited to give an academic report titled: "The Connotation and Meaning of the Theory of Practice and the Theory of Contradiction". Some teachers of our college, as well as graduate students of 2022 and 2021 attended the lecture.

Before the beginning of the lecture, President Yang Jinzhou delivered a welcome speech, expressing his warm welcome to Professor Li's academic report for our institute.

Professor Li Weiwu emphasised the extreme importance of Marxist philosophy for the Chinese Communists from the 20th Party Congress Report on opening up a new realm for the Chineseisation of Marxism in the times. The report pointed out that "Chinese Communists are deeply aware that only by combining the basic principles of Marxism with the concrete reality of China and with the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and by adhering to the use of dialectical materialism and historical materialism, can they correctly answer the major questions raised by the times and practices, and can they always maintain the vigorous and vigorous vitality of Marxism. "

Professor Li began by describing the motivation for the writing of the Theory of Practice and the Theory of Contradiction as well as Mao Zedong's path of philosophical enquiry. He emphasised that only by explaining the relationship between theory and practice, and between understanding and practice in terms of general philosophical theories, could the relationship between the universality of Marxism and the specificity of the Chinese problem be profoundly elucidated, and it could be made clear how the universal principles of Marxism were able to satisfy the special needs of China's national conditions and the Chinese revolution, and become the guiding ideology of the Chinese Communists in carrying out the Chinese revolution.

"Seek truth from facts" is a classic summary of the basic connotation of the Theory of Practice and the Theory of Contradiction. The word "truth" means all things that exist objectively, the word "is" means the internal law of objective things, and the word "seek" means to study. These four words condensed the basic connotation of the Theory of Practice and the Theory of Contradiction, and became the concrete expression of the ideological line of the CPC.

Professor Li Weiwu believes that the significance of The Theory of Practice and The Theory of Contradiction lies in the fact that they have philosophically succeeded in answering and solving the problem of the relationship between the universal principle of Marxism and the concrete reality of China, explaining how the Chinese Communists can apply this universal principle to know and understand the concrete reality of China, and how to apply it to guide the practice of the Chinese revolution in order to achieve success. This has enabled the Chinese Communists to acquire a source of wisdom, to form a correct world view and methodology, to form their own philosophical foundation, to form their own correct line of thought, and to be able to lead the Chinese people to correctly understand the world and transform it.

Finally, Dean Li Haibo summarised the lecture. With profound theories and vivid examples, this lecture elaborated the connotation and significance of the Theory of Practice and the Theory of Contradiction in depth, with a clear theme and rich connotation, which is of great significance for teachers and students to deeply understand the adherence to the "two combinations".
