On the morning of October 17, the 20th lecture of "pilot lecture hall" of Marxism college was held on the third floor of the academic exchange center. Professor Sun Xiguo of Peking University gave the academic lecture on "How to guide the development of contemporary Chinese philosophy and social sciences with Xi Jinping's new socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era. The lecture was presided over by President Yang Jinzhou. Some teachers of Marxist college and all graduate students of 2020 and 2021 participated in the lecture.

Professor Sun Xiguo mainly expounded from three aspects: the problems faced by contemporary Chinese philosophy and Social Sciences, the innovative development of Marxist theoretical discipline and the same direction of Ideological and political courses.

Firstly, Professor Sun Xiguo directly pointed out that there are five urgent problems to be solved in the current development of philosophy and Social Sciences, namely, “the development strategy”, “the construction of discipline academic discourse system”, “academic originality ability”, “academic evaluation system” and “the overall quality of talent team.” After all, in essence, these questions were "how to guide the development of philosophy and social sciences with Marxism and the development of contemporary China's philosophy and social sciences with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era".

Secondly, Professor Sun Xiguo believed that there are five development paths for the innovative development of social science in contemporary China: First, It should be based on practice and insist on being problem-oriented. Second, we must keep our original intentions in mind and always maintain the spirit of struggle and the pure heart towards the people when the party was founded. Third, we can not forget the original, adhere to Chinese culture as the carrier, and strive to realize the modernization of Marxism. Fourth, we should absorb foreign culture, adhere to regarding foreign culture as a tool and sinicize foreign culture. Fifth, we must face the future, adhere to the method of comprehensive innovation, and use the party's innovation theory to lead the development of philosophy and social sciences.

Finally, Professor Sun Xiguo pointed out that ideological and political courses are not mutually exclusive, but go in the same direction and jointly serve the fundamental goal of cultivating socialist builders and successors.

President Yang Jinzhou summarized the lecture.
