On the morning of June 25, in order to further promote the construction of the Marxism college in the new era, take the initiative to adapt to the national development strategy, and further improve the quality of the training of the ideological and political education, our school held the first-class undergraduate major construction seminars in the Academic Exchange Center. The meeting invited Professor Wu Qiantao of Tsinghua University, Professor Wang Xuejian of Lanzhou University, Professor She Shuanghao of Wuhan University, Professor Wan meirong of Central China Normal University, and Professor Xu Fangping of Hubei University to give guidance. Professor Du Dongyun, deputy secretary of our school, Professor Xu Bai, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, and Professor Huang Yingxin, president of the Academic Affairs Office, attended the meeting. What’s more, more than 50 people including the main leaders of the Marxist College, all professional courses teachers and graduate students attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Professor Yang Jinzhou, the Dean of the Marxist College.
At the meeting, Du Dongyun, deputy principal, gave gratitude to the experts and academic colleagues concerned to support the professional growth development of Marxism College and discipline ideological and political education, and introduced the history and development of ideological and political education in South-central University for Ethnic Minorities of China. He pointed out that vigorously supporting and developing ideological and political education national first-class undergraduate major is an important part of the school’ running direction, talent positioning and hierarchical level. Director Huang Yingxin emphasized that first-class undergraduate construction requires a clear concept, positioning, thinking and should highlight the characteristics of our Marxism college.
Director Dong Jie, Vice President of the Marxism College, made a special report on the development process of undergraduate major of Ideological and political education, the experience of professional construction, "3331" talent training model and the basic idea of the construction of the first-class undergraduate major. Associate Professor Zhu Lei, the head of the Ministry of Marxism, reported on the specific ideas of building a first-class undergraduate major around the three aspects, namely, learning the advanced, grasping the key, and highlighting characteristics. The teacher representatives, associate professor Xiong Fang, combining with the teaching of "Marxist philosophy" while associate professor Teng Shuai combining with the teaching of "World Modern History", reported the experience of improving students’ professional ability by focus on professional course teaching.
The experts attending the seminar fully affirmed our school’s achievement, accumulated experience and contribution made in the construction of National first-class Undergraduate Ideological and Political Education and the efforts of our teachers. On the other hand, they also provided targeted guidance on how to build a national first-class undergraduate major in Ideological and Political Education from the aspects of professional positioning, course settings, teaching materials construction, practical teaching and talent training. Participants emphasized that we must focus on national development strategies, take moral education as the fundamental task, strengthen the "national first-class" professional positioning, combine the school's actual state and implement the high-quality talent mission to every link. He also stressed that it is important to distinguish the Interrelationship between Marxist Theoretical Discipline (Professional) and Ideological and Political Education (Professionals), Ideological and Political Theory Courses and Ideological and Political Theory Education Professional Courses in order to construct undergraduate major of ideological and political education.
Professor Xu Bocai, deputy secretary of the party committee, reviewed the development history of undergraduate major in Ideological and Political Education since its establishment in 2008, hoping that the college strive to seriously find the "true problem" of the professional construction in accordance with the new tasks of the party and the country and effectively make the ideological and political education A first-class level.
Professor Yang Jinzhou, the president of the Marxism College, made a summary statement. He expressed sincere gratitude to the representative of the participating experts. He said that all the experts' review and guidance, standing in the party and national strategy development, have a deep understanding of the substantive problems involved in professional construction, so that we can broaden the horizons, clear the direction, clarify ideas and find out problems . The college will carry out a big discussion in this seminar, make new programs, strive to open up a new situation in professional construction and contribute to the cultivation of talents for our party and country.
