On the morning of May 21st, the 14th lecture of the "Navigation Lecture" of the School of Marxism was successfully held in classroom 501. Professor Zhao Shifa of the School of Philosophy of Wuhan University was invited to give a academic lecture with the theme of "The Originality Contribution of the Sinicization of Marxist Philosophy" for the teachers and students of our school. This lecture was hosted by Dean Yang Jinzhou. Some teachers and 2019 and 2020 graduate students of our school participated in this lecture.

     Professor Zhao Shifa mainly explained from four aspects: "Is there originality of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy", "What is the originality of the Sinicization of Marxism", "The original experience of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy", and "The original significance of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy". First of all, Professor Zhao Shifa distinguished and elaborated on the concept of "original" from the perspective of semantics. He pointed out that "original" refers to the original creation or the first creation, which is the fundamental meaning and value of the existence of the work. He believed that an important yardstick for measuring the level of spiritual products is originality. That is to say originality has the differences between high-quality ones and inferior ones thus it is necessary to discriminate whether or not original things are good or bad. Immediately afterwards, Professor Zhao Shifa further indicated that the originality of theory is embodied in the organic unity of "criticism and inheritance", "content and form", and "theory and practice", and the process of Sinicization of Marxist philosophy including the dialectical development process of these three levels is undoubtedly original. Secondly, Professor Zhao Shifa elaborated on the original content of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy. He believed that the originality of Sinicization of Marxist philosophy was reflected in the "three leaps". Mao Zedong Thought was the first leap of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy; Philosophy is a special form of philosophical practice, and it is the second leap; Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era further organically integrates the basic principles of Marxist philosophy with the objective reality of the great rejuvenation of contemporary China, and truly realizes the third leap of sinicization of Marxist philosophy. Thirdly, Professor Zhao Shifa obtained three basic principles for realizing the originality of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy by summing up the development process of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy, and the three basic priciples are “Practice is the cornerstone”, “giving full play to the subjectivity of the Chinese nation is the premise”, and “opposing dogmatism is the guarantee”. Finally, Professor Zhao Shifa pointed out that adhering to the originality of Sinicization of Marxist philosophy is of great significance to "perfect the theoretical system of Chinese Marxist philosophy", "guide the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics", and "promote the creation of human civilization".

    At the end of the lecture, Professor Zhao Shifa conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with the students on issues such as "the definition of the relationship between the three leaps in the sinicization of Marxist philosophy and the historical development", and “the distinction between the concepts of sinicization of Marxist philosophy and the concept of Sinicization of Marxism”.

   Professor Liu Guosheng summarized the lecture. He believed that Professor Zhao Shifa’s lecture has a thorough analysis of the original contribution of Marxist philosophy in China, and the thoughts, viewpoints, and methods studied in recent years are all run through the lecture. This lecture fully embodied the research direction of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy, the practice-oriented and world-oriented research process, and the depth of thought and theory of the report, which greatly benefited teachers and students.
