On the morning of March 23, 2021, the new semester "Navigation Lecture Hall" of our college started in Building 501. This was the eleventh lecture of the Linghang Lecture Hall. Yuan Yinchuan, a second-level professor of Wuhan University, was invited to give an academic lecture on the theme of "Cultural Confidence and National Ideological Security". More than 40 people including Wei Dajiang, Yang Jinzhou, teachers from various teaching and research sections, and graduate students of all grades attended the live lectures. The lectures were also broadcast live simultaneously online through the Tencent conference. The lecture was hosted by Wei Dajiang.
As the first lecture of a series of lectures on the frontier issues of Marxism, Professor Yuan Yinchuan mainly focused on three aspects: "Culture and National Soft Power", "Contemporary Cultural Interchange and Confrontation and Safeguarding National Ideological Security", and "Basic Ways to Improve the Soft Power of Chinese Culture". First of all, Professor Yuan Yinchuan clarified the relationship between culture and national soft power from three perspectives: the reasons for the rise of cultural reflection, Chinese culture and its basic composition, and the role of cultural soft power. Secondly, Professor Yuan Yinchuan believed that various cultures and civilizations in the world today exchange, blend, and confront each other, and the world is facing major changes unseen in a century. International hostile forces have adopted "promotion of the bourgeois world view" and "promotion of the failure of socialism" , "Fostering dissidents", "cultivating pro-Western generations" and other means to differentiate, Westernize, and peacefully evolve socialist countries. Thus we must attach great importance to ideological work. Finally, Professor Yuan Yinchuan used the four words of "Hong Ma", “open source”, “drainage” and “innovation” to summarize the basic ways to enhance the soft power of Chinese culture. In addition, Professor Yuan exchanged the ideas of “how to understand the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese culture”, “Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. What is the cultural connotation of thought" and other questions with teachers and students. During the lecture, Professor Yuan combined his rich academic experience and solid theoretical foundation to explain the theory deeply and thoroughly with many vivid examples, which was unanimously praised by all the teachers and students attending the lecture.
Dean Yang Jinzhou expressed his heartfelt thanks to Professor Yuan Yinchuan for coming to the school to give lectures. Teacher Yuan's lectures have a broad vision and profound academics, which benefit teachers and students a lot. At the same time, the college will rely on the "Navigation Lecture Hall" to invite academics and famous experts to conduct a series of academic lectures. We hope teachers and students will actively participate.
Wei Dajiang believed that Professor Yuan Yinchuan’s lecture has strong practical and political significance. He hoped that the students should not only view culture and cultural differences between China and Western countries from a cultural perspective, but also view culture from a political perspective, establish confidence in Chinese culture, oppose cultural chauvinism, and strive to build a Chinese national community and build a community of common destiny for all mankind. It is hoped that teachers will combine the teaching of ideological and political theory courses, strengthen relevant theoretical research work, and better cultivate newcomers who adapt to the development of the situation.
