2020 is a crucial year for our country to build a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way. Firmly advancing the anti-poverty practice under the strong leadership of the party is the key to fulfilling the party's solemn commitment, coordinating the fight against the epidemic and economic and social development, and laying the foundation for China's future development strategy. In-depth study of the development process, great achievements, historical experience and basic laws of the Chinese Communist Party’s anti-poverty practice is of great significance for us to study Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and promote modernization.
Professor Zhang Ruimin of our college has devoted herself to researching China’s anti-poverty theory and has been practicing in the past ten years. She has won 9 research projects at the national and provincial level, published nearly 100 papers, and 4 provincial and ministerial awards. On account of her research closely integrated with teaching and educating people with outstanding achievements, in 2019, she was awarded the national model teacher. In 2019, her another masterpiece Research on the Anti-poverty Practice of the Communist Party of China (1978-2018) was published by People's Publishing House. The book explains the historic contribution made by the Communist Party of China in anti-poverty in the 40 years of China's reform and opening up. In the early days of reform and opening up, under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping, China embarked on the fast lane of economic development and bid farewell to the era of widespread poverty. At the turn of the century, the Chinese Communists, represented by Jiang Zemin, led China to achieve a historic leap from food and clothing to an overall well-off. After entering the 21st century, under the auspices of Hu Jintao, various measures to strengthen, benefit and enrich farmers have become the main theme of the policy, and important achievements have been made in anti-poverty. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has written a new chapter in China’s anti-poverty history with perseverance, proposed a new anti-poverty strategy for targeted poverty alleviation, and put the fight against poverty into an important position in the governance of the country.
After the publication of the book, it has attracted widespread attention from many media such as People.cn, and has had a greater impact on the academic world. The People's Publishing House promoted the book on the official WeChat account since March 16th, and serialized the four parts of book that “How is Targeted Poverty Alleviation Proposed?” “What are China's political and institutional advantages in winning the battle against poverty?” “What can we do to truly eradicate poverty?” “Poverty alleviation depends on precision, the most important thing is precision, and the success or failure lies in precision” and so on. The “People.cn-Theory Library” column regarded this work as an important academic achievement for the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. From March 26 to April 13, 2020, the “People.cn-Theory Channel” has serialized four wonderful chapters in the book, including“General Secretary Xi Jinping's New Poverty Alleviation Thesis” “Designing the Trilogy of China's Modernization with People's Living Standards as a Benchmark” “Start-up China's Poverty Alleviation Model” “Strong Peasants, Benefiting Peasants, and Rich Peasants Become the Main Theme of the Policy” This series of articles has also been reprinted by many central and local official websites, such as Workercn.cn, People's Forum, National Innovation and Development Strategy Research Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Iqilu.com, and www.zyjjw.cn.
