School of Economics Hosts Lecture on “Market Maker Mindset in Financial Trading”

On the afternoon of March 30th, Tu Tao, an alumnus of the School of Economics, Director of Fidelity Funds in Hong Kong, and Chairman of a NASDAQ-listed company, was invited to deliver a captivating lecture for faculty and students. The lecture was chaired by Vice Dean Xiong Fang.

Titled “The Market Maker Mindset in Financial Trading”, the lecture saw Tu Tao draw upon his deep theoretical expertise and extensive practical experience in finance. He provided an insightful analysis of the core traits of market makers and their influential role, describing them as the “helmsmen” who steer market trends through exceptional foresight, capital strength, and operational acumen in grasping market dynamics. Tu Tao shed light on how observing market maker behavior patterns, analyzing their strategies, and adopting their mindset can enhance one’s trading abilities. He further explored ways for investors to incorporate the market maker perspective into their own trading approaches, while emphasizing the importance of independent thinking and developing robust personal trading systems.

Vivid case studies illustrated the practical applications, contrasting strategies and outcomes of different investors, including major platforms like Pinduoduo and Taobao.
