In recent years, under the strong leadership of the party committee and administration of SCMZU, the discipline of chemistry has steadily developed and our college made great progress in talent cultivation, discipline construction, and scientific research. It has doctoral and master's degrees in a first level discipline of chemistry and has been selected as a 'first-class discipline construction discipline' in Hubei Province. The ESI global discipline ranking is in the top 0.43%.

The approval of the postdoctoral research mobile station in the field of chemistry signifies that the School of Chemistry and Materials Science of SCMZU has fully established a complete talent training system that connects undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral programs, comprehensively improving the quality of independent training for high-level innovative young talents.
