The major of Biomedical Engineering in SCUN was established in 1994, which was one of the earliest Biomedical Engineering in China. It started to enroll undergraduate and master from 1995 and 1997 respectively.The College now contains two undergraduate majors in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Information Engineering. It has established the state of Ethnic Affairskey discipline of Biomedical Engineering and Key laboratory for Cognitive Science of State Ethnic Affairs Commission . The College has enrolled more than 1000 undergraduate and 150 MS students,60% of them came from China’s minority areas.
The College currently has 9 full professors and 12 associate professors, and 80% of teaching faculty has Ph.D. degree.Many of them had work experience in well-known universities all around the world. Recently, more than 30 research projects have been accomplished with governmental supports such as 863 programs and National Science Foundation, resulting in more than 200 SCI or EI cited publications.
With decades of development, The College now mainly focus on understanding the mechanism of nervous system and providing treatment for neurological diseases from various ways through modern engineering technology. Training high quality graduates is always the major goal of the College. To put the knowledge of modern science and engineering technology, graduates can be grown into cross inter-disciplinary talents.
