Third National Symposium on Translation of Chinese Ethnic Minorities’ Classics

    The Third National Symposium on Translation of Chinese Ethnic Minorities’ Classics is to be held at South-Central University for Nationalities from October 28 to 30, 2016. The symposium is hosted by the Committee of Classics Translation of China Association forComparative Studies of English and Chinese, and organized by the School of Foreign Languages of South-Central University for Nationalities.

    The theme of the symposium is “English Translationof Chinese Ethnic Minorities’ Classics (ETCEMC) in the New Era: Opportunities,Challenges and Prospects”. The symposium aims to address mainly, but not exclusively, the following issues: 1) State-of-the-art, opportunities and challenges of ETCEMC; 2) Approaches to spreading ETCEMC to the rest of the world; 3) Criteria, strategies and methods of ETCEMC; 4) Translation critics research into ETCEMC; 5) Cross-disciplinary research into ETCEMC.

    Abstract submission deadline is July 10,2016. Abstracts should be around 300 words, written in English or Chinese. Full paper submission deadline for accepted papers is September 10, 2016. Papers should be the original work of the author and not have been published previously. Abstracts and full papers can be submitted online via e-mail (ethnictranslation@163.com).

    The symposium welcomes attendees in related fields across the nation to share ideas on issues of general concern. The symposium will also be honored by the presence of well-known experts on classics translation.
